Extracurricular

As well as benefiting from a variety of academic opportunities, students in the Colfe’s sixth form are able to choose from a wide range of extra-curricular activities to improve their learning experience and their time in the school. As well as a number of subject specific societies, the sixth-form caters for students interested in sport, theatre and music, as well as other preferences.

There are a number of societies that allow students to extend their interest in certain subjects. These include the Dead Historians Society, which provides a number of outside speakers and social events for A Level History students, MedSoc, which helps students interested in a career medicine improve their knowledge and EcoSoc, a new society for thriving Economics students. These societies, as well as adding to the sixth form social environment, allow students to further their interest and knowledge in their favoured subjects, preparing them for a life in university.

Colfe’s caters for athletic students all the way from year seven, and this is no different in the sixth form. There are a number of sports teams for both boys and girls, including four rugby teams, three football teams, two cricket teams, hockey teams and netball teams. There are a number of matches played across the season against other schools, as well as regular training sessions to improve students sporting capabilities.

As well as sport, Colfe’s caters for students interested in drama and music. There are a number of theatre visits to see prestigious West End shows, and students are encouraged to take part in school productions such as ‘Oliver’ and ‘Grease’. This year, there is a school production of ‘Noises Off’, including only students in the sixth form. For musical students, there is the opportunity to join the school choir and orchestra, who perform at a number of events across the school calendar.
