Hockey
Hockey is played during the games session in the autumn term
for pupils in year 7 -10 where all girls participate fully. In the spring term year 11, 12 and 13
will now have the opportunity since the addition of the new all weather facility on site. The aim
is to cater for the range of pupils needs and develop pupil’s knowledge and understanding of the
sport. We operate a staff : pupil ratio of 1:10 to allow a high level of coaching and ensure pupils
progress and develop their individual potential.
Since many pupils arrive with very little experience of hockey the first year is spent
developing and ensuring pupils obtain safe and practical knowledge to participate in small sided
games and local fixtures. Pupils of all ages are then able to continue their interest and attend
training through the extra–curricular programme on offer. These are exciting times for girls sport
and hockey due to the new all weather surface allowing additional training on site and a permanent
facility for fixtures. Teams regularly participate in local fixtures, the Trinity Schools
Tournament, local leagues, and national competitions and it is hoped the sport will continue to
develop as it has over the past four years.
