Every student has the right to be safe and happy in school, and to be protected when he/she is
feeling vulnerable. We define bullying as repeated
deliberate behaviour which makes other people feel uncomfortable or threatened. The aim of
our anti-bullying policy is to clarify for students and staff that bullying, whether physical,
verbal or emotional, is always unacceptable. The school curriculum includes discussion of the topic
of bullying in Active Citizenship lessons and Form Tutor periods in a way which explores why it
happens and gives alternative ways of behaving, and dealing with difficulties. It is our aim
to employ teaching methods that encourage co-operative work and a variety of groupings to help
students to extend their relationships beyond a small group of friends.
