German is the most widely spoken native language in the European Union. There are many trade
links between Germany and the UK and many German companies have offices here which makes German a
very useful language to speak. All pupils have a chance to take German in their second year at
Colfe’s (Year 8) and an exciting study visit to in Germany takes place at the end of Year
9. This is a five day visit to Bonn and Cologne which combines language, cultural and fun
activities. The school is a member of the Goethe Institut in London, which organises courses for
pupils and possesses rich resources of material available to schools.
