English at Colfe’s is taught by a team of seven specialists who meet regularly to sustain and
evolve policy. Our aims are simple: to develop every boy and girl’s capacity as a reader and writer
and speaker and listener. We try to achieve these aims through a variety of different approaches
from power point presentations to good old fashioned class discussion. In addition we try to
inculcate a sense of the joy to be derived from literature. Insofar as we have an easily definable
policy it is to teach language through literature.
