General information
The Nursery and Pre-Prep Departments are housed in their own purpose built accommodation.
Specialist staff provide a stimulating and safe learning environment in which boys and girls can
develop their confidence, knowledge and skills. A very high level of care ensures that each
individual is given the support and encouragement necessary for their personal development.
The school day starts at 8.50am and lessons finish at 3pm after which there is a programme of
clubs and an after-school scheme until 6pm.
A key worker system operates in the Nursery led by a Nursery Manager. In reception and key
stage 1 classes the children are taught by their class teacher and nursery nurse, with teaching
from subject specialists in music, drama and sport, which includes swimming.
Our teaching methods blend the strengths of tradition with the very best in contemporary
ideas. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum that encompasses and exceeds the requirements of
the National Curriculum.
Children are encouraged to learn through play to develop their curiosity and ability to learn
with others. First class resources ensure that every child is an active participant in their own
learning. Discovery is enjoyable and exciting and much use is made of Colfeās extensive facilities.
Great emphasis is placed on the fostering of a strong partnership between school and home. We
encourage parents to be closely involved in the education of their child.
