Outdoor education
We believe that residential experiences have enormous social benefits
for children. To this end we offer nights away experiences to all year groups. In Year 3 children
spend a night at school, using our Leisure Centre facilities and sleeping in their classrooms. In
Year 4 we take the children away for one night to Downe Scout Activity Centre in Kent where they
experience a range of outdoor activities including archery, zip wire and a campfire. In Year 5
children spend the week-end at Sayers Croft Field Study Centre in Surrey, building rafts, pond
dipping, orienteering and shelter building. These three experiences build on each other preparing
children for a week long visit to an outdoor activity centre in Year 6, participating in a wide
range of activities like abseiling, climbing, fencing, quad bikes and trapeze. All children return
from these nights away enriched by the experience and looking forward to the next
opportunity.
