Continual assessment
Formal assessment in English and mathematics takes place twice during the academic year – in the
first half of the spring term and in the second half of the summer term. Science, history,
geography and French are assessed using modular tests throughout the year. These will take a
variety of forms including aural, practical and written activities and will usually occur at the
end of a topic of work. There is also an end of year science examination.
Revision for examinations and modular tests will be carried out in class or set as part of
regular homework. Naturally, continued teacher assessment in daily classes plays an important role
in our teaching and this will be reflected in the grades and comments on the written reports to
parents.
