Personal trainer ‘to the stars’ visits Colfe’s

A top personal trainer has visited Colfe’s to speak to students about body image, fitness and health.  Phil Learney, who is the director of Education for Ultimate Performance - a leading personal training business in London - gave a series of lively and informative lectures to Years 7 through to 10 as part of their PSHEE  programme.

Phil,  who trains world class athletes and sports professionals, said “I wanted to give the students a proper understanding of health matters that really related to them, so they could go on to take up good habits in the future.  It is difficult for young people as there are so many negative body images out there in the media and I wanted to get  across that there is no such thing as one perfect body but that we all have different shapes and need to have a healthy lifestyle that suits the individual.  It is important for me to bust through some of the myths.”

Elsie from Year 8 enjoyed the two hour lecture. “It was really informative and I feel I know a lot more about health and food than I did before.  I really enjoyed it.”

Head of PSHEE, Mrs Cordell  said “This was a really impressive and informative lecture and I’m really grateful to Phil for targeting his audience so well.  The students came away with a lot more knowledge of how to live a healthy lifestyle but also have fun and reach their full potential.”
