On September 12 th 2008 Junaid was in the final of the U.k’s fastest bowler competition at Lords cricket ground London. Young talented cricketers joined English cricket stars such as Michael Vaughan, Stuart Broad and Beth Morgan. Junaid said: “As I entered the building we had to sign in and they gave us a NatWest shirt and hat. They mentioned that the under 12’s would go first. I was really nervous, but my nerves were released as we had a brief talk about how hawk eye works. This is the system for filming every ball that’s bowled.
Then we had a tour of Lord. It was amazing. We saw every detail of the grounds. And we got to
see the real ashes. We went back into the hall. They mentioned my name to go first. I had a slight
feeling I would do well, as when I was training I felt it was all going good. My average ball
was 61.5 mph and my fastest was 65.5mph. Stuart Broad was impressed saying “well done, that was
very quick”, nodding his head in disbelief. Then the other competitors were coming close to
my speed. I was presented with a bat by Michael Vaughan, which was signed by the England and New
Zealand teams. And Stuart Broad put a medal around my neck.”
Sony entertainment television sports awards 2007
Junaid said: February 2007 was the S.E.T. sports awards. It was held at the Hilton hotel
London. It was one of the most memorable moment in my life as there were so many stars the such as
Jermaine Jackson, Tessa Giles Keith Vas (mp’s), Amir Khan and many more. As my category (u10) was
first I was so nerves and the worst thing was they took along time to mention the winner. It was
me. I was sitting there in disbelief as I went up to collect my award I got an amazing roar what I
was not expecting.”
