Since September 2006 we have introduced a new approach for delivery of the programe to pupils in Years 8- 11, while continuing with the rotating modules for Year 7.
Pupils in Years 8 – 11 currently have one morning each term when their normal time-table is collapsed to allow for a citizenship morning.
The current programme, which has developed from our experiences last year and the feedback from pupils assessments, now includes mornings on topics such as; Personal Relationships, Heath Education, Charities, World Religions, Local and Global Politics, Careers, Sex Education, Personal Development, Drug Education (with focus on alcohol).
The modules this year for pupils in Year 7 are First Aid, Heath, Relationships, Sex Education and Self Defence.
It is hoped that the delivery of our programme followed by pupil’s assessments, where they examine their efforts and participation, encourages students to consider the relevance of their learning to how they conduct their own life, acting as well informed and responsible citizens.
