Media Department Wins Top Accolade
Colfe’s Media department has emerged at the top of a Good Schools’ Guide study of pupil performance at A level in independent schools. 94% of results in Media Studies were graded A or B last summer, placing Colfe’s ahead of all independent schools nationally in the subject.

Craig Foxall, Head of Media Studies, said “This is great news for Colfe’s, the department and, most importantly, our students. It’s great to see their efforts acknowledged.”

Richard Russell, Headmaster, was also delighted: “Media Studies gets a bad press sometimes, often from people who don’t know what it entails. Last year’s students produced some fantastic work. Each one of them had to complete a 3000 word research project and produce an original film or documentary. As options go, it’s anything but soft. The best students forge productive links with other subjects like English, History and Economics. It’s also a great subject to offer in a coeducational school like Colfe’s, with gender issues never far from the surface.”
