11+ (Year 7 entry)
Academic scholarships are awarded mainly on the basis of outstanding
performance in the Entrance Examinations. The exams are designed to identify and reward academic
potential, as well as achievement.
Means- tested bursaries are also available at 11+ entry. Bursaries may, in
exceptional circumstances, cover the total cost of tuition fees. Application forms are available
from the Bursar and Clerk to the Governors.
A limited number of
Music and
Sports awards are also available at 11+. In the case of Music scholars, free
instrumental tuition may accompany the award. Details of Music and Sports awards can be obtained
from the relevant school departments.
13+ (Year 9 entry)
A limited number of academic scholarships are available for pupils joining
Year 9, following assessment in the 13+ entry examinations.
16+ (Sixth Form entry)
A number of academic scholarships are available to pupils joining Colfe’s for
the first time in the Lower Sixth Form. Such awards will be made following the Sixth Form
Scholarship examination in January. Music, Drama and Sports awards may also be available at
this stage. Scholarships may be offered to existing Year 11 pupils who perform particularly well at
GCSE.
