  • Prep Open Afternoon

    The Preparatory School was open to visitors on Wednesday afternoon and, from the moment the hand struck 2pm, classes quickly filled up with Mums and Dads, grandparents, aunts and uncles, godparents and friends.

  • Year 4 Netball Tournament

    We have also had a lot of netball going on this half term, despite the snow! The highlights have been the Year 4 netball teams taking part in the Blackheath Prep Tournament.

  • Prep swimming performances

    The Prep school swimming teams have been to a number of galas this term, including the IAPS swimming gala that was held in February. This is always an exciting event as the race times are put through for selection for national finals.

  • Dynamic Disco Dancing at the Prep

    A fun-packed time was had by all at last Wednesday’s Valentine’s Disco. It was great to see so many children dancing and waving their glow sticks, with only the occasional stop for a drink and a tasty handful of popcorn.
    The tension mounted as the disco came to an end and the raffle took place for the many fabulous prizes.

  • My visit to the British Museum by Maya 3C

    On Monday the 30th January I went to the British Museum in London to learn a bit more about Ancient Egypt. We travelled there by coach and it was a long journey to get there. When I arrived at the museum I felt very excited.

  • Mounted Police Division visit Colfe's Prep

    We were delighted that two of the mounted police division at Lewisham Police Station managed a slight detour to their daily exercises and came in to visit us on Wednesday morning. Eric and Una, standing at 17 and 16 hands respectively, seemed to enjoy meeting the PPN and our Year 3 and Year 4 classes. 

  • Prep cake sale a great success.

    We began last Friday with an assembly presentation given by Molly and Jenna in Year 4. With the aid of a very professional power point, they told us about the Freddie Farmer Foundation and the equipment that would be bought with the proceeds of the cake sale later that day.
    Parents and children from the whole Prep School  jostled to buy from the tremendous range of delicious cakes available.

  • Pre-Prep Club Leader to perform at Olympic Opening Ceremony.

    Pre-Prep Club Leader Audrey Baxter has been chosen out of thousands to perform at the Opening Ceremony for the 2012 Olympics.

    Madame Baxter has been at Colfe’s for ten years and teaches the popular French Club after school.

  • Excitement, Noise and Ultimate Effort for the Prep School House Gala.

    Lynx have won a close and hard fought Prep School House Swimming Gala. The morning saw Years 5 and 6 Houses compete against each other with deafening screams of encouragement from students, teachers and parents.  Everyone swam very well and at the half-way point Orion was in the lead closely followed by Lynx and Aquila and finally Pegasus. The children stayed focused and swam hard.  By the end of the morning’s efforts though, Lynx had edged into the lead.  With only 77 points in it, the final results for the older children were: Lynx, 1st with 295 points.  Orion, 2nd with 284 points, Aquila, 3rd on 264 and Pegasus 4th on 218.

  • Move over Spielberg – Colfe’s boy makes a corking good film

    A nine year old Colfe’s student has made a documentary film about wine and had it shortlisted by two International Film Festivals.

    Year 5 pupil, Huw Olding's debut documentary is called ‘Making Red Wine at Oldingmanor Vineyard’.   The 11 minute film was entered for the under 15 category at the Cinemagic Young Filmmaker Awards which took place in Belfast in December and also for the Young Film Makers Competition in Lancaster, both of which shortlisted his work out of the hundreds of entries they received.

  • Raising money for Freddie is a piece of cake.

    The Prep school together with the Parents and Friends Association (PAFA) have held a cake sale to raise money for the Freddie Farmer Foundation

    Seven year old Freddie Farmer, from Eltham, was born with cerebral palsy, and three times a year his family have been taking him to a centre near Oxford for unique and intensive physiotherapy using equipment called ‘spider’

  • Red Riding Hood visits the Senior School (Video)

    ‘If you go down to the Senior School today you better go in disguise’ because the Big Bad Wolf has taken over the Main Hall. The Year 3 and 4 Christmas production this year was Roald Dahl’s Little Red Riding Hood from his Revolting Rhymes.

    The dark and sinister opening began with a polished dance sequence by the Bunnies and the Bats to Bjork’s ‘It’s all so quiet’. Josh from Year 3 said “It was a special Bunny dance which involved some hopping. I like being in this because it makes me feel really happy” Sarah, Year 3, playing one of the bats, agreed “It’s been really fun and it’s gone really well”.
