Colfe’s Sixth Form is made up of approximately 180 students with around a fifth new to the school at the start of Year 12.  Each student takes 4 ‘AS’ levels in Year 12 and normally drops to 3 full ‘A’ levels in Year 13, although students who wish to carry on with all 4 subjects to A level are most welcome to do so.

As a Sixth Form, Colfe’s has one of the largest ranges of ‘A’ level subjects on offer anywhere in London with 26 subjects for students to choose from (more than any other school locally).  One of the benefits of specialising in the teaching of ‘A’ level is that not only is teaching focused on this particular qualification, but also more specialist subject combinations can be offered, hence art students can choose the more general Art and Design course or a specialist Graphical Communications option.  Results are consistently very good; this summer more than 70% of our ‘A’ level entries were graded A* to B.

While the vast majority of our current Year 11 students do continue into the Sixth Form; we do welcome applications for Year 12 from external candidates and around 20 external students are successful each year in obtaining a place in the Colfe’s Sixth form.  Candidates for Sixth Form will be required to undertake an assessment in the autumn term and will subsequently be invited for interview at the end of the autumn term or beginning of the spring term.  Candidates from other schools will be asked for an academic reference which should include predicted GCSE grades.  If we believe the student has the potential to meet the academic criteria for Sixth Form entry, we will offer a conditional place for September. To enter Colfe’s Sixth Form students must achieve at least 14 points at GCSE, with an A* or A equating to 3 points, a B equating to 2 and a C equating to 1 point together with A* or A grades in at least 4 subjects.
