Examination results - 2012

At GCSE, Colfe’s pupils achieved  a higher proportion of top grades than last year, against the highly publicised national clamp-down on grade inflation.

The proportion of A* and A grades was up from 49% to 52% and the separate science results were really outstanding with 83% A*/A in Physics, 91% in Chemistry and 96% in Biology.

This was the first year that we had entered all our candidates for the IGCSE qualification in Mathematics; 57% achieved the top grades, which is a new school record. Also in Mathematics, 13 pupils achieved A grade (no A* available) in the prestigious Additional Maths qualification. Other top-performing subjects included History, Religious Studies and Design Technology.

14 pupils gained at least seven A* grades; six of them achieved nine or more.

Colfe’s girls performed exceptionally well this year: at GCSE, 60% achieved A* and A grades.
